Make music together, in code, in real time.

Strata Jam is a collaborative live-coding playground. You and everyone else in the room write Strudel patterns — short lines of code that become drums, bass, melodies — in a shared editor, and hear the result immediately. Think of it as a jam session where the instruments are text.

What you can do

Why we ask you to sign in

Signing in with Google or GitHub is optional for looking around and required only to save work and be credited for it. When you do sign in, we request the most basic thing the provider offers: your basic profile information (name, and the provider's stable account identifier).

We use it for exactly one purpose: to create a local Strata Jam profile so your songs and edits are attributed to you, and so you can find them again on your next visit. We do not read your email, your repositories, your files, your contacts, or your calendar. We do not post anything anywhere on your behalf, and we do not sell or share what we hold with anyone.

The full details are in the privacy policy.

A fair warning

Strata Jam is a for-fun experiment, not a product. It may break, it may lose your patterns, and it may be taken down without notice. Please don't put anything here you would be upset to lose. See the terms of service.

Signing in creates your Strata Jam profile and is how a jam knows which songs are yours and who is allowed to edit them. You can also look around first — public and unlisted songs are readable without an account.
